Happy New Year everybody! Hope you all had a good end of 2017 and a great start to 2018!
This week we did some service, and of course, the first time I've seen rain here in Chile was during our outdoor service activity!
We have an investigator named Irma, she's probably 75 years old, loves to smoke, has a boxer dog named Sasha, and loves gringos. And guess who's a gringo. YA, ME! So she asked me to sing for her, alone. So ol´Irma got to hear these gringo pipes squelch out a nice tune, she loved it.
We also hit the beach yesterday, where I found $100!
And also got a pretty good sunburn. Anyway, since I dont have much to say about this week, I thought I'd share some fun facts that Ive learned from my time here.
Fun Facts:
1. Cleaning supplies are measured in "Lemons Power" (for example, Power of 100 Lemons!)
2. No empanada is made the same.
3. You have to pay to use the bathroom, and they never have toilet paper because people will steal it.
4. Flowers are basically the only things that grow here.
5. People love to wear fake tattoo sleeves for swag.
6. Sickness cannot be transmitted from person to person, so sanitation is not an issue.
These are just a few of the things I've learned here in Chile, and Im going to learn more! HAHA!

Anyway, a spiritual thought for the week. This week, I learned a very important concept of love. Everytbody needs it. We talk to people ever day, and sometimes these people want nothing to do with us. But the thing is, if we show love to those that may not love us, they are much more inclined to love back! Ive seen it with my own eyes, knocking doors.
So this new year, 2018, I want to challenge each of you to show a little more love to those who may not love you. Because everybody needs love, and like the Golden Rule says, treat others the way you want to be treated!
I love you guys and I thank you for your love and support, because this missionary work is not easy. I hope you all have a safe week and a great start to 2018.
Love you all, stay safe!
love,
-Elder Lewis
