WE'VE MADE IT TO 5 MONTHS EVERYBODY!
5 months away from home, and here I am, alive in Chile!
(and sleeptalking in spanish too, apparently)
Another week, and another transfer almost over. It seems that all the fun stuff that happens in the week is right after we get back from writing, so I have to wait a whole week to share!
Last week he had a barbeque at the house, and man was it good!
Here I am with our Brazilian chef,
and good pal, Elder Rodrigues,
and our nice selection of meats. How happy huh?!
This week, I also recieved a WHOLE BUNCH of letters from a lot of you guys, and it made my whole week. You guys are the best, thank you all so much for your love and support, it makes life here so much more enjoyable!
Another week of work, finding, and teaching.
So about a week or two ago, my comp and I were knocking doors, finding people to teach. Long story short, we found a man, we chatted for a while, and he tried to kill us with questions and doctine from his church. After things started to get a little wild, we decided to back down, thank him for his time, and we left.
2 weeks later, the married missionaries in our area call us with the
opportunity to go with them to give a blessing to a young girl, who was family friends with a family in an area close to ours. So of course we went, and we arrive at a house that we immediatly recognized. As we recognized the house of the man we had chatted with a few weeks ago, my comp said "Oh no," and I laughed and said, "OH YES!" Long story short, we gave a blessing to his daughter, and talked a while about the gospel, and set up a date to return and teach them.
The Lord has prepared and will prepare a path for every single one of His children. He prepared the path for this man and his family, for us to find and teach them. Sometimes, its not as wild or immedate as this story, but it happens. The Lord will prepare a way for every single on of His children. It's our duty, as members, to help the lost children find this path and start their journey on it.
Sorry this is a bit short, but things are crazy and time is short!
But, thank you all for your love and support, and I hope you all have a great week and stay safe and healthy. Until next week!
much love,
-Elder Lewis

Let's start this off with a funny story that's not so funny....
So we just got back from writing and shopping a week ago on Pday. It was a hot day, and we were sweaty from walking all around with our groceries. We walk into the house, and immediately a man pulls up in a truck, and long story short, after lots of aurguing in spanish, we learned that we were going to lose our water. For at least 2 hours, or at the most 2 days.
Because the mission office forgot to pay our water bill!
Long story short, we went about a full 30 hours without water, and with lots of praying and nearly tears (from yours truly), we got our water back!
After that fiasco, I realized just how important water is! We had lost our electricty a few weeks back to the same problem, and lets just say that I will never forget to pay my water bill!
Fast forward to Saturday, and we had too much water!
We were filling up the font for a baptism this weekend, and another long story short, forgot to shut the water off! We ran around with whatever we could find to mop up the water that had overflowed into the font room and hallway!
But all was well, we had our baptism and it was great.
After the baptism, we got to watch the Disney movie, Coco.
If you havent seen this movie, I would suggest that you do, as soon as possible!
It's an awesome film, and has an even greater message. The topic of family history is such an important work that must be done, and it should be done as soon as possible!
For those of you that haven't done family history work, get to it. It's a great oportunity to remember and get to know your fore family, and finish the saving ordanices that they need in the temple.
I know that there are people waiting, in the spirit world, just waiting for their families to get their work done so they can fully enjoy all of the blessings that God has promised each one of us.
I love you all, and really do thank you for all the love and support. You guys keep me rollin!
I hope you all have a great week, and can do some family history work!
Love you all, see ya next week!
love,

Welcome BACK to Cooking in Chile with your host, Elder Lewis!
This week, we've been cooking up some interesting eats with some rather interesting results.
Lets take a look at whats been going on this week in Cauquenes...
Here we have a nice dish that we've coined The Chupacabra!
We've got 5 pieces of bread, 2 fried eggs, 1 chicken burger, 2 slices of cheese, tomatoes, and some mayo!
We put that bad boy down in 13 bites.
Up next this week, we have this 15 in completo! The size of my FOREARM!
We also put that down, and had some rather intense bloating and stomach pain after, but a worthy dish. We also ate some other stuff but thats beside the point!
This has been another good week of hard work and many blessings. And walking. Lots of walking!
me and elder Rodriguez having a good ol time
We've been teaching like crazy and doing all we can to bring the people of Chile closer to our Father in Heaven.
This week, I was able to finish reading in Alma, in the Book of Mormon. This was a really interesting part to read through, especially as a missionary. The book of Alma tells many stories of missionary work. The pains, the sorrow, the walking, the discouragement, but more than that, the joy that we recieve by sharing this gospel, and the many blessing that we recieve for doing this wonderful work for the Lord.
I know that I have recieved countless blessings from this work, and my family as well. I know that this is work, and work isnt always fun, but I'm doing the Lords work, and there is nothing better than helping His children find the path to return back to Him.
I hope you all have a great week and are all staying, safe, happy, and healthy. I love you all and thank you so much for your love and support!
Have a great week and keep working hard and staying safe! See ya next week!
much love,
-Elder Lewis

Howdy howdy USA!
Elder Lewis back again from MEOWquenes with another general update!
This week we've been workin hard and I don't have much time to write so it's gunna be a bit short.
We starting teaching spanish classes to the Haitians here and our first class was a HUGE hit! These boys brought their notebooks and pens and their thinkin caps, ready to learn!

This week I was reading the introduction to the Book of Mormon, about when the angel Moroni visted Joseph Smith and told him about the plates hidden in the Hill Cumorah. And it hit me. It was the 21st night of September!
Don't know how many of you know Earth. Wind, And Fire... but.... DO YOU REMEMBER? THE 21ST NIGHT OF SEPTEMBER? HEY HEY HEY! aYYYY AYYYYAHHHH DANCIN IN SEPTEMBER!
Anyway, thought that was pretty cool, and the other gringo in the house did too.
Anyway, something a bit more spiritual. I was reading in Alma chapter 61, verse 21. And it says (21 See that ye strengthen Lehi and Teancum in the Lord; tell them to fear not, for God will deliver them, yea, and also all those who stand fast in that liberty wherewith God hath made them free. And now I close mine epistle to my beloved brother, Moroni.).
I love this scripture because it tells us, fear not, because God is on our side. We are always telling people here that God is our Heavenly Father, and He wants the best for us. It's true, we are His children and He wants us to succeed!
So fear not, and trust in the Lord, and all will be well.
I love you all and thank you for your love and support here in Chile. You guys make this work possible! Hope you all have a great week and stay safe!
MUCH LOVE!
-Elder Lewis
